This was a very special trip, as the North Ridge route is rarely climbed, and because my daughter Katie completed her goal of climbing all Three Sisters. Her husband Nate also tagged along for the amazing camp on the pumice behind Coller Cone, at the foot of the North Ridge.
The NE shoulder of Prouty Pinnacle is one of my most junk leads ever, a scary stack of dinner plates, barely beating out the first pitch on Glisan pinnacle (which I remembered being not so bad last time, when I made it to the saddle between the two pinnacles and backed off). Neither pitch had anything truly solid anywhere. But all but one party member found the courage to follow it, including Katie (with some coaxing). And it only took 19 hours - completed in daylight.
Fantastic NW July weather made for a super memorable outing.
Lost my tag line and short lead rope when they would not pull off the Glisan rap. Oh well, by far not the worst thing that can happen!
